Glens Falls Community Theatre Presents its musical for its 74th season, "The Baker's Wife"
Book by Joseph Stein, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, directed by Jim Chaffin
Based on the 1940s French film La Femme de Boulanger, The Baker's Wife is a story of love, life, temptation and redemption, all taking place in a small French town and centering around a baker and his young wife. The residents, and the town itself, play a role in shaping their lives. A 1976 touring show of The Baker's Wife featured Paul Sorvino and Patty LuPone in the lead roles, and the show has become a cult favorite without ever having made it to the Broadway stage.
